Online store - initial setup
terrible*'s e-commerce service is built on Shopify. This guide covers everything we need from you to get your store designed and live.
Fees & subscription
Item | Cost |
terrible* fee | 8% of gross revenue + card transaction fees and currency conversion fees |
Fulfilment | Charged at cost (typically covered by the customer at checkout) |
Shopify subscription | £25/month — waived in any month where revenue exceeds £1,000 |
In real terms: on every £1,000 in sales, terrible* takes £80 + transaction and currency fees (billed by Shopify)
What we need from you
Assets
Any images, videos, or visual content you'd like incorporated into the store design - backgrounds, banners, section images, etc.
- Please send high-resolution files. Low-res images will look pixelated on screen.
- A note on backgrounds: how a background image appears will vary by device. Mobile layouts will crop differently to desktop, and we may need to fix a focal point to ensure it looks consistent across screen sizes. Just let us know what's important in the image.
Fonts
We can use any font you like, as long as it's either free for commercial use or you hold the rights to it. Fonts can be mixed and matched across the store - for example, different fonts for product headings vs. body text.
Colours
Any specific colours you want used throughout the store - backgrounds, text, borders, pop-ups, buttons, etc. Like fonts, these can be applied selectively across different sections.
Products
A complete list of everything you want to sell, including:
- Product titles and descriptions
- Images (high-resolution)
- Prices
- Stock quantities
- UPC / ISRC codes (where applicable)
Store reference (optional)
If there's a store you'd like yours to be modelled on - your current store, a previous terrible* build, or another site altogether - send us a link. We'll do our best to replicate the look and feel. Please note that some Shopify limitations may mean we can't reproduce every element exactly; we'll always flag this upfront if it's the case.
